Other Info
| This butterfly-designed fuchi-kashira is mumei, but has been attributed to the Murakami [村上派] school. The master of Murakami Jochiku [村上如竹], the representative of the Murakami school, has been unclear, but it is said that Jochiku started out as a stirrup inlay craftsman and became a famous metalworker. His works are often highly carved with inlaid patterns, and are intricately detailed. All of his disciples were named Jo+something [如▢], and they were beloved as the Murakami school, depicting butterflies, dragonflies, fish, and other creatures in their unique ishimeji surface. This fuchi-kashira features high quality shakudo and a design that Jochiku was good at. It has passed the Hozon Tosogu shinsa in February 2025. |
