| The theme of this Tsuba is Bird of Prey on an Pine Tree. The craftsman, Tojusai Masakatsu, was born in Aizu, Mutsu Province and moved to Edo where he became a disciple of Ishiguro Masatsune. Later he returned to Aizu and crafted many excellent Tsuba. The features of his work on this Tsuba resemble the work of his teacher, Ishiguro Masatsune. It is referred to in the book of Aizu no Bi. It passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu in 2016. |
