Other Info
| Hayashi is a representative school of Higo metalwork that was founded by Hayashi Matashichi[林又七]. After Matashichi has passed away in 1699, the school was continued by the second Shigemitsu[重光], the third Shigefusa[重房], and the seventh Toshichi[藤七] until the Bakumatsu period. The style is typical of Higo tsuba, with well-forged iron openwork tsuba and gold inlaid tsuba with arabesque patterns. There are seldom with mei/signature. This tsuba depicts a design of a Daki-myoga crest/hugged myoga ginger, folding fan, and bamboo tea whisk connected with wild geese. It has been attributed to the Hayashi school and passed the Hozon shinsa in 2018. |
