| A horse's bit is placed in the horse's mouth that is attached to the reins. This piece is a bit openwork tsuba that has been attributed to the Koshoami. Koshoami tsuba have a large seppadai and a large hitsu-ana hole, and were made before the Momoyama period. The style is openwork with gold overlay, with symmetrical designs and an overall large openwork style. The gold overlay has worn down over time, and many are not visible unless you look closely. This piece also has traces of gold overlay on the rim, and if you look closely you can see faint gold overlay. It is large and powerful, with fine jigane. It is slightly bolder than the Kyo-sukashi tsuba, and more elegant than the Owari-sukashi tsuba. It has passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu shinsa in 2024. |
